New York-New Jersey goalkeeper Mike Ammann is expected to miss the rest of the season after breaking three ribs and suffering a concussion Wednesday night in a 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay in front of 5,131 at Tampa Fla.

Ammann dived to beat Tampa Bay forward Mamadou Diallo to a loose ball in the 29th minute. As Diallo jumped over the goalkeeper, his right foot struck Ammann’s head.

“I’m so, so sorry about that,” said Diallo, who scored three goals to give him a league-leading 22. “At the time, I was ready to kick the ball. I want to talk with Mike and tell him how bad I feel.”
