Chaminade Plays It Even With Westlake
For the first 35 minutes of the girls’ soccer game Thursday night, Westlake High players, coaches and fans were stunned at Chaminade’s dominance.
But Westlake, ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times, took advantage of a second-half letdown by the Eagles and salvaged a 2-2 nonleague tie in West Hills.
Kim Taylor assisted on Lindsey Weening’s goal in the 26th minute to give Chaminade (2-0-2) a 1-0 lead.
Katie McCurdy assisted on Sara Silver-Hill’s goal in the 48th minute that tied the score, 1-1.
The Warriors (1-0-2) took the lead when Ashley Jones beat goalkeeper Candice Rodella in the 69th minute.
The Eagles tied the score four minutes later on Nasrin Pak’s header from a throw-in by Kristina Chew.
