Poli-Dixon Says He Plans to Return

Brian Poli-Dixon, one of five juniors to ask the NFL where he might be drafted, said Thursday he will return to UCLA for his senior season.

“I’m definitely going to stay,” he said. “I want to set some records here, and we’re going to have a great year. And I really haven’t played to my potential yet.”

Poli-Dixon caught 46 passes for 700 yards this season. He said he expected fellow receiver Freddie Mitchell, who caught 68 passes for a school-record 1,314 yards, to turn pro.

“There’s really nothing for him to come back for,” Poli-Dixon said. “You have to leave while you’re hot, and he’s definitely hot. If Danny Farmer had left after his junior year, he probably would have gone in the first round.”

Farmer caught 58 passes for 1,274 yards as a junior and 29 passes for 573 yards as a senior. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected him in the fourth round of the NFL draft last spring.

Poli-Dixon, Mitchell, tailback DeShaun Foster, linebacker Robert Thomas and safety Marques Anderson all sent letters of inquiry to the NFL. Poli-Dixon does not plan to rescind his letter, he said, because he remains curious how the NFL will evaluate him.
