No. 4 Ocean View Loses in Semifinal

Dijon Thompson scored 23 points Friday, leading Redondo Beach Redondo Union to a 62-52 victory over fourth-ranked Ocean View in the semifinals of the Ocean View Tournament of Champions.

Marques Crane had 17 points, Torin Beeler had 13 and Casey Ortiz had 12 for Ocean View (3-1), which plays Pasadena for third place.

Redondo Union (5-0) will play Mater Dei for the championship.

No. 1 Mater Dei 73, Pasadena 39--Travis Gabler scored 14 points, including four three-pointers for Mater Dei (4-0). Cedric Bozeman and Harrison Schaen each added 12 points.

In nonleague boys’ basketball:

No. 4 Woodbridge 61, Foothill 60--Sophomore Chris Boldig made a basket and converted a foul shot in the closing seconds to give the Warriors the victory at at Foothill High.

Tashaan Forehan-Kelly scored 30 points for Woodbridge (4-2), which rallied from a 31-23 halftime deficit.

Chad Bigler scored 27 points for Foothill (3-3).

No. 7 El Dorado 62, Magnolia 48--Nick Lehnert had 16 points, David Patten had 15 and Mike Wulff had eight points and 14 rebounds for host El Dorado (4-1).

No. 8 Sonora 71, Servite 58--LaRence Knight had 16 points, Marcellus Robertson 15 and Robert Abreu had 13 points for visiting Sonora.

In the Glendora tournament:

Covina 71, No 9 Brea Olinda 56--Landon Lewis had 15 points and John Pohlen had 13 for Brea Olinda (2-1), which will play Glendora for the championship today.

In pool play in the Newport Harbor Bill Reynolds tournament:

No. 6 El Toro 68, Fallbrook 39--Chris Parish had 15 points, Ashkan Nazeri 12 and Matt Green had 10 points and eight rebounds for El Toro (5-0). The Chargers play in the championship today against Newport Harbor at Vanguard University.

Riverside La Sierra 57, Edison 56--The Chargers had a 10-point advantage at the end of the third quarter, but scored only eight points in the fourth. Everet Rincon hit a three-pointer in the last five seconds for La Sierra.

Newport Harbor 69, Moreno Valley Rancho Verde 39--Tony Melum scored 24 points for the Sailors (6-0), who led, 40-23, at the half. Steve Young added nine points and 11 rebounds and Aaron Yarnell scored 15 points for Newport Harbor.

In the La Quinta Aztec tournament:

Calvary Chapel 68, Los Amigos 61--Senior forward Bryan Silkey had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead the Eagles (6-1) in the semifinal game. The Eagles will play Bellflower St. John Bosco in the final tonight.
