The winter break has been no holiday for Agoura High, which last won a girls’ basketball tournament in 1988.

“It’s been frustrating,” said Jennifer Lacy, a Pepperdine-bound forward. “We’ve had the talent to do it.”

The frustration ended Saturday night, when the Chargers routed Valencia, 57-31, to claim the Burroughs tournament championship.

Lacy had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and guard Jamie Kogler scored 16 points for Agoura, which has four starters from last season’s 17-11 team that set a school record for victories.

Lacy was selected the tournament’s most valuable player.

“This is the best team I’ve had at Agoura,” said Coach Ollie Otis, in his ninth season.

Agoura (7-3), which plays next week in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, opened up a tight game late in the second quarter, taking advantage of a 12-minute cold spell by Valencia (8-2) that included 25 consecutive missed shots and six turnovers.

Forward Stephanie Patterson scored eight points for Valencia.

In other Burroughs tournament games:

Chatsworth 65, Glendale 64--Liz Sun had 17 points, nine rebounds and six steals for the Chancellors (7-3), who overcame a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win the third-place game.
