Soccer is Hess’ first love in sports, but she was named to her third consecutive all-region team in cross-country after finishing second in the Marmonte League championships, 11th in the Southern Section Division I final and 24th in the state meet.

The three-time all-region pick won her second consecutive Marmonte League title, placed second in the Southern Section Division I final for the second consecutive year and was sixth in the state meet for the third season in a row. She placed 25th in the West region championships.

Lindsey Owen Nordhoff Freshman

The brightest new face in the region peaked perfectly, winning Frontier League, Southern Section Division III and state titles in November and finishing 18th in the West region on Dec. 2.

Natalie Stein North Hollywood Senior

The four-time all-region selection broke an 18-year-old course record in the Bell-Jeff Invitational at Griffith Park, won her second City Section title, placed fifth in the state Division I final, eighth in the West region and 25th in the national championships.

The Foothill League champion produced her best races at the end of the season, placing sixth in the Southern Section Division II final and 23rd in the state meet.

The Santa Clarita Valley Invitational champion placed second in the Foothill League championships, 19th in the Southern Section Division II final and 28th in the state meet.

The two-time Rio Hondo League champion placed 10th in the Southern Section Division III final but bounced back with an eighth-place finish in the state meet.

The Tri-Valley League champion placed second in the Southern Section Division IV final and fifth in the state meet.

Amanda O’Neal Quartz Hill Freshman

O’Neal was Quartz Hill’s top runner in the last four meets of the season, winning the Golden League title, placing 24th in the Southern Section Division I final and 31st in the state meet.

Jaclyn Pedersen Royal Senior

Pedersen placed 38th in the Southern Section Division I final, but she defeated Hess in a dual meet earlier in the season and won the senior race of the Seaside Park Invitational.

Cassie Ramirez Highland Junior

Ramirez had two subpar races to end her season, but she placed second to Treadway in the junior race of the Seaside Invitational and in the large-schools race of the Santa Clarita Valley Invitational.

The fourth-place finisher in the Marmonte League championships placed seventh in the Southern Section Division III final before a disappointing 46th-place effort in the state meet.

Yadon was Quartz Hill’s most consistent runner, placing fifth in the Golden League championships, 34th in the Southern Section Division I final and 42nd in the state meet.
