Munyon’s Goal Lifts Ventura

Jake Munyon scored on a breakaway in the 65th minute to give Ventura High a 3-2 victory over San Marcos in a Channel League boys’ soccer game Monday in Santa Barbara.

It was the Cougars’ (15-1-6, 2-0-4) first victory at San Marcos (14-4-4, 2-2-1) in nine years.

Ventura’s Sean Mandel-Torin scored two goals and had an assist.

Crespi 5, Alemany 0--Aaron Magpali and Taylor Canel each scored two goals for the host Celts (8-10-2, 3-4-1) in a Mission League game.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Notre Dame 3, Flintridge Sacred Heart 2--Sharlene Taddem scored in the fifth minute of the second overtime to lift the Knights to a Mission League victory at Notre Dame.

Rio Mesa 4, Oxnard 1--Ashley Zimmer had a goal and an assist for the Spartans (10-6-1, 8-0-1) in a Pacific View League game at Rio Mesa.

Camarillo 6, Channel Islands 1--Chelsea Garcia scored two goals for the Scorpions (12-5, 8-2) in a Pacific View League game at Camarillo.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Notre Dame 61, St. Francis 60--Darin Barton made a 16-foot shot at the buzzer and the visiting Knights (18-5, 7-2) pulled into second place in the Mission League.

Cody Pearson scored 24 points and had 14 rebounds for Notre Dame. Teammate Michael Luderer added 21 points.

Crespi 77, Alemany 68--Andrew Moore scored 19 points and the Celts (10-12, 2-7) withstood a 34-point effort Reny Maynard of Alemany (6-15, 1-7) in a Mission League game at L.A. Baptist.

Crespi, which snapped a five-game losing streak, outrebounded Alemany, 52-29. Matt Biernat had 15 points and 18 rebounds for the Celts.

Maynard made 12 of 21 shots and teammate Evan Cline had 13 points, four blocked shots, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Bell-Jeff 82, Murphy 73--Casey Markovic made four of five three-pointers and the Guards (18-5, 5-2) overcame a 17-point deficit in a Santa Fe League game at Murphy (13-11, 4-3).
