Ratcliff Lands North Hollywood Job

Brad Ratcliff, a former coach at Granada Hills and University highs, has been selected to replace Jason Garrison at North Hollywood.
Ratcliff coached the Huskies’ freshman-sophomore team last season. He spent three years at Granada Hills, compiling a 3-27 record before resigning after the 1997 season.
North Hollywood opens next season against Granada Hills.
* Torrance Heggie, a defensive lineman at Ventura College, has signed with Rutgers--one of nine Pirates headed for four-year schools.
Peter Naumas signed with Boise State and Chad Kahlsdorf with New Mexico State. Both are offensive linemen.
Running back Travis Rogers signed with Tennessee Tech.
Kicker Paul Czerniak signed with Tusculum, defensive back Rashadd Cousins with Angelo State, and quarterback Glen Dudley, defensive back Jeremie Jackson and receiver Greg Johnson signed with Adams State.
BASEBALL
* Outfielder Garret Anderson of the Angels is expected to be among the players participating in the Kennedy alumni game at 10 a.m. Feb. 12.
GOLF
* Clubhouse, season and daily tickets are on sale for the Los Angeles Women’s Championship, Feb. 7-13, at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.
Daily tickets are $15 for the three LPGA rounds next Friday through Sunday, $10 for the pro-am events Wednesday and Thursday and $5 for the practice round Tuesday. A qualifying round on Monday is free admission.
A season pass for the tournament is $50, while a clubhouse pass is $100.
Discount prices for seniors and juniors are available. Parking is free.

* Hana Kim of Encino has been selected to the eight-player girls’ team that will represent the United States in the Izzo Cup matches against Team Scandinavia on June 26-30 at Ullna Golf Course in Stockholm, Sweden.
Kim, who attends Brentwood High, is ranked 12th in the Golfweek/Titleist girls’ amateur rankings.
* The San Fernando Valley Baseball Officials Assn. is sponsoring a golf tournament on Feb. 21 at Vista Valencia Golf Course. Cost is $75.

TENNIS
* No. 4-seeded Philip Sheng of Thousand Oaks beat No. 5 Brian Wilson of Ojai, 7-6 (7-0), 5-2 (default), in the semifinals of the boys’ 18 division in 49th annual Gene Jung Whittier Mid-Winter tournament Saturday in Whittier.
Sheng, who won the boys’ 18s title in the Santa Barbara Mid-Winter two weeks ago, plays K.C. Corkery of Manhattan Beach in the final on Feb. 19.
No. 9 Corkery beat Prakash Amritraj of Encino, 6-3, 6-3.
Fifth-seeded Lester Cook of Calabasas beat Derrick Bauer of Ojai, 6-1, 6-4, in the boys’ 16 division quarterfinals. He faces Henry Mak of Irvine in the semifinals Feb. 19. Mak defeated Kean Feeder of Ojai, 6-3, 6-2.
In the 16s, Matthew Loucks of Irvine beat Justin Montgomery of Channel Islands Harbor, 6-2, 6-3.
No. 9 Ashley Schellhas of Ojai beat No. 4 Cathy Sutej of Ojai, 6-4, 6-2, in the girls’ 16s round of 16.
