Tarne Puts Crescenta Valley Home Free in 69-67 Victory

Chris Tarne made two free throws with six seconds left and Crescenta Valley High defeated Pasadena, 69-67, in a Pacific League boys’ basketball game on Tuesday at Crescenta Valley.

Tarne, who had five assists and six rebounds, finished with 29 points.

His free throws gave Crescenta Valley a 69-65 lead and Pasadena (19-7, 8-1 in league play), which had used its final timeout, managed only one more possession.

James Jenkins had 20 points and 14 rebounds for Crescenta Valley (20-5, 7-2). Jimmy Goffredo scored 15 points, including three consecutive free throws to tie the score, 65-65.

Crescenta Valley, ranked No. 8 in the region by The Times, avenged a 66-48 loss to the Bulldogs earlier this season.

Valencia 65, Canyon 57--Royce Minor scored 18 of the Vikings’ 19 fourth-quarter points in a Foothill League victory at Valencia.

Minor finished with 30 points.

Burbank 58, Burroughs 56--Damien Jordan tipped in a shot with one second left to lift the Bulldogs in a Foothill League game at Burroughs (16-6, 7-2).

There were nine lead changes in the fourth quarter.

Trenton Cleveland scored 19 points for Burbank (15-8, 6-3), which pulled to within one game of the first-place Indians.

Saugus 63, Hart 53--Tim Tampus scored 18 points and Mike Grisanti had 16 in a Foothill League victory for the Centurions (14-8, 5-4) at Hart (10-15, 4-5).

Palmdale 74, Antelope Valley 49--Eric Brown scored 25 points for the host Falcons in a Golden League game, breaking the school’s season record of 651 points. Brown has 656.

Travis Ritchie added 19 points and 20 rebounds for Palmdale (9-15, 4-5).

Ventura 66, Camarillo 41--Mike Derse scored 16 points and all 13 players scored for the Cougars (17-8) in a nonleague victory at Ventura.

Campbell Hall 82, Brentwood 66--Robert Locke scored 20 points and dished out 11 assists as the Vikings won a Delphic League game at Brentwood.

Jessie Foster and Hassan Bassiri each had 17 points for Campbell Hall (17-7, 7-2).

Pacific Hills 70, Montclair Prep 66--Jesse Bronner had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Josiah Johnson had 20 points and 14 rebounds, but the Mounties fell in overtime in a Delphic League game at Montclair Prep.

Montclair Prep (13-11, 3-6) had a 66-65 lead in overtime, but Sharif Joshua made two free throws and Anthony Kyles hit one in the final minute to help Pacific Hills secure the victory.

Pacific Hills (21-4, 7-2) is top-ranked in Southern Section Division V-AA.

Antelope Valley Christian 90, Joshua Springs 54--Peter Beaudin scored 33 points and Jamal Flanagan had 24 for the Eagles in an Agape League game at Antelope Valley Christian.

Matthew Nurse added 17 points for Antelope Valley Christian (14-9, 7-0).

Pasadena Marshall 63, Village Christian 56--Clint Hamblin scored 30 points but the Crusaders were overmatched in an Alpha League game at Pasadena Marshall.
