Ventura College will host Women’s History Month events in March, including performances by storytellers, singers and a women’s rights activist. Discussions will follow the performances.

Dorothea Phelan and Suzanne Lawrence will kick off the activities on March 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Fireside Lounge. Phelan will share traditional Irish folk songs and tales, and Lawrence will perform as Molly Shannon, reading Shannon’s stories. The two will repeat the performance on March 7 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on the library patio.

Lawrence will also perform with women’s rights activist Theodosia Burr Shepard on March 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge, and on March 28 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on the library patio. On those days, Lawrence will perform as Myrtle Shepard, reading from Shepard’s “The Flower Wizard of Ventura County.”
