Kate Beckler scored 29 points and Karina Siam added a season-high 20 points and 13 rebounds for Alemany High in a 73-63 victory over rival Harvard-Westlake in a Mission League girls’ basketball game Monday night at L.A. Baptist.

Siam averaged seven points before she was moved last week from the low post to the wing.

“I’m having a good time,” said Siam, who has scored 37 points in two games since the change. “I needed to wake up and help my team.”

Alemany (12-3, 2-0 in league play), ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times, led 46-34 in the third quarter before L’Tanya Robnett of No. 4 Harvard-Westlake (12-6, 2-1) scored 10 of her 25 points to spark a 14-0 run.

Brooke Porter scored 18 points for the Wolverines.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Simi Valley 81, Moorpark 50--Branduinn Fullove made 13 of 16 shots and finished with 30 points for the host Pioneers (13-2, 2-0) in a Marmonte League victory.

Simi Valley point guard Shaun Michel did not play for disciplinary reasons.

Newbury Park 59, Royal 53--Will Svitek had 19 points and 10 rebounds to help the host Panthers (9-5, 3-0) remain in first place in the Marmonte League.

Thousand Oaks 71, Agoura 56--Kyle Kegley scored 25 points for the host Lancers (10-6, 2-1) in a Marmonte League victory.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Chaminade 0, Harvard-Westlake 0--Harvard-Westlake outshot host Chaminade, 27-4, in regulation but 18 saves by goalkeeper Sara Leibowitz allowed the Eagles to escape with a double-overtime tie in a Mission League game.

“This is a precursor of things to come,” Harvard-Westlake Coach Ned Smith said. “It had the intensity of a [playoff] game. We will definitely meet them in [the playoffs].”

Harvard-Westlake (9-2-3, 1-0-1) attacked with its outside midfielders instead of playing balls through to its forwards, who were covered by three defenders and a sweeper playing deep for Chaminade (11-4-3, 0-0-2).

The Wolverines’ game plan was successful, but they didn’t finish their scoring chances.

Midfielder Gina Farias-Eisner dribbled through the Chaminade defense in the seventh minute, but her shot was smothered by Leibowitz. Molly Cahan hit the crossbar two minutes later and Tracy Lansing’s shot in the 28th minute was punched out of goal by Leibowitz.
