The City Council last week unanimously voted to require signs at the unsupervised skateboarding facility being built on Alicia Parkway. The signs at the park will warn skaters they face a citation if they don’t wear helmets, knee pads and elbow pads. City attorney Lois E. Jeffrey said that the city still could be held liable in case of an accident but that the seriousness of victims’ injuries would be lessened with the protective gear.
