California Highway Patrol officials identified the man as Stephen Greyson Morales. The incident occurred about 1:30 a.m., police said.

The driver of the car that hit Morales, Anil Mohandas Sadhnani, was driving about 65 mph and was unable to avoid the collision, officials said. Sadhnani suffered a two-inch wound to his forehead, police said.
