New York Center Ewing Has Arthroscopic Surgery on Knee
Patrick Ewing had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, but the New York Knicks’ oft-injured center is expected to be available for the start of training camp in October.
Team physician Dr. Norman Scott performed the operation on Ewing, 37, Friday in New York.
Ewing had four similar procedures on his right knee between 1986 and 1995. He also was sidelined the final 56 games of the 1997-98 season following surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right wrist.
Last year he partially tore his left Achilles’ tendon during the Eastern Conference finals and did not return until December.
He missed two games of last month’s conference finals against Indiana because of tendinitis in his right foot.
