Santa Ana Calvary Chapel will try to win its sixth state wrestling title in eight years when the Eagles compete in the state championship meet this weekend at University of the Pacific in Stockton.

Michael Simpson of Huntington Beach Brethren Christian, who won the 119-pound division last year, is the only returning champion from the Southland. Competing at 125 pounds this season, he won that division at the Southern Section Masters meet last weekend at Fountain Valley High.

Simpson is one of 112 wrestlers from the Southern Section who qualified for the state championships by finishing in the top eight in 14 weight classes at the Masters meet.
