Fitz Intermediate eighth-grader Diane Vo placed third in the Orange County Spelling Championship at the county Department of Education in Costa Mesa. The 14-year-old from Santa Ana won a $200 prize competing against 135 of the top spellers from 59 public and 16 private schools in Orange County last weekend.
