Small Earthquake Shakes Up North County; No Damage

A small earthquake rattled Yorba Linda on Saturday, but no damage or injuries were reported, authorities said.

The magnitude-3.1 temblor struck at 1:46 p.m. and was centered about five miles southeast of the city, according to Mandy Johnson, a seismologist with the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

The shaker was the latest of several aftershocks to last week’s 4.0 quake, Johnson said.

There was a jolt to the area at 4:20 p.m. Monday when an earthquake struck just south of the Riverside Freeway on the Orange County side of the border with Riverside County.

That earthquake had a depth of about 6 miles, and the strongest shaking was from the epicenter south to Irvine and Tustin.
