Seton Hall point guard Shaheen Holloway has a torn ligament in his left ankle and remains questionable for Friday’s NCAA tournament game against Oklahoma State.

The university announced that an MRI performed Monday showed a tear of the anterior talofibular ligament. Holloway continues to be treated with ice and electric stimulation. He also is wearing a compression boot.

Senior guard Rimas Kaukenas sat out practice on Tuesday because of a possible strep throat. Results of a test will be known Thursday afternoon. Kaukenas could practice again today.

Iowa State has been cleared by the NCAA of any wrongdoing in the recruitment of 7-foot center Ernest Brown, who appears bound for the NBA.

Brown transferred to Indian Hills Community College in Iowa last year after one season at Mesa Community College in Arizona. He committed to Iowa State after Tres Chapman, a former Mesa assistant coach, joined the Cyclones’ staff.

Mesa Athletic Director Allen Benedict said the NCAA wanted to know if Chapman played any role in getting Brown to Iowa State and if Iowa State had recruited Brown during a “dead period,” when contact with recruits is prohibited.

Brown reportedly left Indian Hills last month in good academic standing and declared, in writing, his intention to make himself eligible for the NBA draft, Indian Hills spokesman Patrick Snyder said.
