Bounty Hunters Guilty of Posing as FBI Agents

Two bounty hunters who used bogus FBI identification to force their way into a woman’s apartment were convicted Wednesday on charges of impersonating a federal agent, officials said.

Robert Hyun, 29, of Norwalk and Larry Cornell Diamond Jr., 22, of Long Beach were convicted after a two-day trial in U.S. District Court. Jurors heard evidence that Hyun and Diamond proclaimed to be affiliated with a nonexistent branch of the FBI.

Hyun and Diamond created a fake search warrant and claimed they were FBI agents when they made their way through a woman’s San Pedro apartment last July, searching for stolen computers. Both men were wearing holstered semiautomatic guns and silver badges that they claimed were FBI badges.

During the unauthorized search, the woman’s uncle became suspicious and called the LAPD and the FBI. Hyun and Diamond were charged after an investigation by the FBI. The men face a three-year federal prison term when they are sentenced July 10, said Assistant U.S. Atty. Mark S. Young. The woman had no stolen computers, he said.
