PREP SWIMMING ROUNDUP

In Garden Grove League boys’ swimming:

Rancho Alamitos 148, Santiago 25--Mario Salerno won the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.7) and 100-yard freestyle (1:01.74) and teammate Steve Chadwell won the 50 freestyle (26.3) and 100 backstroke (1:10.47) for visiting Rancho Alamitos (6-2, 2-1).

In Garden Grove League girls’ swimming:

Rancho Alamitos 120, Santiago 47--Christina Wehman and Mylissa Hopkins each won two events for Rancho Alamitos (6-2, 2-1). Wehman won the 200-yard individual medley (3:00.14) and the 500 freestyle (6:48.2) and anchored the winning 200 medley team, while Hopkins won the 100 butterfly (1:25.14) and 100 backstroke (1:20.92).

In the Sunset League:

Esperanza 134, Los Alamitos 52--Teresa Guidi won the 200 individual medley (2:14.92) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.54) and also competed on two of Esperanza’s winning relay teams. Joining Guidi in double wins was Jeannette Nieto, who took the 200 freestyle (2:14.92) and the 100 free, which she won in a county-best time of 54.25.
