Stokx Rises to Occasion for Newbury Park, 2-1

Junior Katie Stokx pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and four walks for Newbury Park High in a 2-1 victory over Simi Valley in a Marmonte League game Tuesday at Newbury Park.

Kamala Kiffee of Newbury Park (15-11, 6-4 in league play) hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning and Jennifer Dilley singled home Stokx in the second.

Dianna Michael drew a bases-loaded walk from Stokx in the third inning and Brittney Green scored for Simi Valley (13-8, 5-4).

Highland 18, Littlerock 0--Nichole Rawson and Niki Secrease combined on a five-inning no-hitter for the Bulldogs in a Golden League victory called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Rawson (12-6) pitched the first three innings, striking out five and walking two.

Secrease had no strikeouts and one walk.

The combined no-hitter followed a no-hitter by Rawson against Lancaster on April 24 and a no-hitter by Secrease against Banning on Saturday in the Thousand Oaks tournament.

Natalie Rawson, hit her third home run, a three-run shot in a seven-run second inning, against Littlerock.

Meghan Stewart had two hits and three runs batted in for Highland (13-6, 6-1) and Angie D’Errico had two hits and two RBIs.

Westlake 3, Moorpark 1--Erin Voeltz pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and hit a three-run home run in the first inning of a Marmonte League game at Westlake.

Voeltz (15-7) had a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings before Davis Beck hit an infield single.

Crescenta Valley 7, Hoover 0--Meredith Cervenka pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Falcons in a Pacific League victory at La Crescenta Montrose Park.

Annmarie Blodgett had a double and two RBIs for Crescenta Valley.

Hart 2, Burbank 0--Casey Pickard hit a two-run triple in the first inning and the Indians (19-3, 7-0) clinched a tie for the Foothill League championship at McCambridge Park in Burbank.

Pickard (2-1) pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks. She allowed an infield single in the fifth.

Emily Brower struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings of relief for Burbank (13-7, 2-5).

La Reina 9, Bishop Diego 0--KC Robertson (7-0) pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts, and Mackenzie Vandergeest had a double, two singles and four RBIs for the Regents in a Tri-Valley League game at Bishop Diego.

Canyon 2, Saugus 1--Erika Owen’s two-out run-scoring single in the eighth gave the Cowboys (14-8, 4-3) a Foothill League victory at Canyon.

Saugus is 14-10, 3-4.

North Hollywood 3, Canoga Park 2--Rebecca Fogel scored on a bases-loaded walk in the seventh to tie the score and singled home Brenda Landaverde in the eighth to give the Huskies (6-14, 4-5) a Sunset Six League victory at North Hollywood.

Sylmar 2, San Fernando 1--Casondra Acosta pitched a three-hitter and Crystal Mejia scored the winning run on a wild pitch as the Spartans (13-7, 6-3) moved into a first-place tie with the Tigers (25-6, 6-3) in a Valley Mission League victory at San Fernando.

Verdugo Hills 10, Hollywood 1--Sophomore Danielle Burch had three hits, drove in a run and scored twice for the Dons (13-4-1, 9-0) in a Sunset Six League victory at Verdugo Hills.

Kennedy 14, Van Nuys 1--Ryane Montes (14-3) had two hits and three RBIs, and allowed seven hits with six strikeouts for the Golden Cougars in a Valley Mission League game at Van Nuys (10-15, 2-7).

Marlena Aguirre had two hits and two RBIs for the Golden Cougars (18-3, 9-0).
