Woman Slain, Girl Hurt in Drive-By Shooting
A 20-year-old woman died Monday morning and a 14-year-old girl was wounded in a drive-by shooting.
The woman and the girl were standing on the sidewalk Sunday night at the intersection of Gleason and Mathews streets when a dark blue Toyota drove by.
“There were several males in the car,” said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Eduardo Funes. “Several shots were fired at the victims. The car took off onto Mathews and disappeared.”
Police are investigating whether the victims were the intended targets or just bystanders.
The woman, who was shot in the chest, died a few hours later, and the girl, who was wounded in the leg, was in good condition Monday at a hospital.
