Virginia Commonwealth (27-4) and Stanford (27-1) advanced to the finals of the men’s team championships at Athens, Ga., eliminating two Southeastern Conference schools. Virginia Commonwealth trailed Tennessee, 4-3, but won when two Volunteer players retired because of cramps. Stanford shut out Florida, 4-0, but was forced to three sets in all but one of its singles matches.
