In the Freeway League boys’ finals:

Sonora wins title--Sonora runners swept the top three spots. Damien Nieves finished the three-mile course in 15:08. Ariel Munoz was second (15:42) and Jose Diaz finished third (15:43).

In the Garden Grove League boys’ finals:

Pacifica wins team and individual titles--Steve Nauthton covered the three-mile course at Mile Square Park in 15:05 to win the individual title and set a school record in the event, breaking Dave King’s 1986 record by six seconds. Pacifica spoiled Santiago’s bid to win its 10th consecutive league title, with a 34-point team victory. Los Amigos was second (49) and Santiago third (76). Rudy Corona of Santiago finished second in 15:30.

In the Pacific Coast League finals:

Estancia, Beardsley win--Travis Beardsley of Corona del Mar ran the three-mile course in 15:14 to win the individual title at Irvine Park. Estancia won the team title with 31 points. Laguna Beach was second (55) and Corona del Mar was third (64).

In the Freeway League girls’ finals:

Kim wins--Freshman Claire Kim ran three miles in 18:21 to take the individual title and help Sunny Hills win the team title by 37 points. Kim’s twin sister, Stacy, finished one second back for second. Sonora was second (64) in the team standings; La Habra was third (66).

In the Garden Grove League finals:

Perkins helps Pacifica to victory--Natalie Perkins of Pacifica ran 18:12 to take first place and help the Mariners to their eighth consecutive league title with 38 points. Rancho Alamitos’ Filadelfa Abarca came in second (18:41) at Mile Square Park. Santiago was second (40) and Garden Grove third (92).

In the Pacific Coast League finals:

Corona del Mar, Manafian win--University sophomore Shey Manafian finished in 17:51 to win the individual title. Corona del Mar won the team title with 35 points, 15 points ahead of second-place University. Katy Quinlan, the top finisher for the Sea Kings in 18:01, took second overall.
