The defense continues to shine at Antelope Valley High (8-1), which has won eight consecutive games while allowing an average of 5.9 points.

The Antelopes, ranked No. 10 in the region by The Times and on a steady climb up the Southern Section Division III poll, clinched a share of the Golden League championship Friday with a 9-3 victory over a Palmdale team that was averaging 32.7 points a game.

“Our defense played a nearly perfect game,” said quarterback and safety Demetre Booker.
