Darryl Parker ran for 173 yards in 10 carries, caught two passes for 55 yards, and scored four touchdowns to lead Canyon to a 54-0 Century League victory over Santa Ana Valley Friday at El Modena High.

Canyon (5-5, 2-3 in league) gained 147 yards in the first quarter, 31 coming on a touchdown run by Joe Medina that gave the Comanches all the points they needed.

Canyon’s defense was impressive, led by Robert Miller, who had three solo sacks and assists on two others--one that went for a safety.

Santa Ana Valley (4-6, 1-4) turned the ball over three times and Canyon capitalized on each mistake.

The Comanches also dominated on special teams, recovering a fumbled kickoff return and stopping a fake punt.

Santa Ana Valley receiver Lance Johnson caught 10 passes for 117 yards to lead the Falcons.

Comanche quarterback Brad Lusk passed for two touchdowns in the second quarter and Ryan Keys’ 23-yard field goal gave Canyon a 24-0 halftime lead.

Keys made all seven of his point-after kicks.

The third quarter belonged to Parker, who scored on runs of 36, 20 and 11 yards.

Maurice Dunning led Santa Ana with 54 yards rushing in eight carries and 129 yards passing while connecting on 11 of 18 attempts.
