Owens’ Status Uncertain
Terrell Owens, the NFL’s second-leading receiver, might miss the San Francisco 49ers’ game against Kansas City today because of a turf toe injury.
Coach Steve Mariucci said Owens’ availability would be decided at game time. Even if Owens plays, J.J. Stokes is expected to start in his place.

Running back Robert Edwards, who hasn’t played in almost two years because of a serious leg injury, will rejoin the New England Patriots on Monday so that team doctors can decide the next course of his rehabilitation.
Edwards was hurt Feb. 5, 1999, while playing in a beach touch football game in Hawaii, an NFL-sanctioned event at the Pro Bowl.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll be ready for training camp [in 2001],” he said.
