From Times Wire Reports

Seven people, including six children, were killed when a blaze tore through a single-story home about two blocks from Rocky Mount’s main fire station. Among the victims in Saturday’s blaze was a 4-month-old baby, Fire Chief Kenneth Mullen said. The oldest victim was a woman in her 50s, he said. Four others were hospitalized and five escaped without injury. Investigators had not determined the cause of the blaze, which started at the rear of the house. Foul play was not suspected but agents of the State Bureau of Investigation were called in to help because of the number of dead, Mullen said.
