Carson Survives Sloppy Performance in 3-0 Win

Share

Instead of a stellar battle between two traditional City Section powers, Carson and Dorsey took turns trying to give away Thursday night’s first-round Championship Division playoff game.

Defending champion Carson survived four turnovers and advanced with a 3-0 victory at Veterans Stadium.

Eder Gonzalez provided the only points by kicking a 23-yard field goal with 6:33 left in the second quarter.

Dorsey committed four turnovers and missed several opportunities.

Dorsey’s best chance came early in the fourth quarter. After pass interference and unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties, the Dons (7-4) had first and goal at the Carson seven.

A holding penalty pushed the Dons back to the 23. Fullback Jermaine Moore tried an option pass but the Colts’ Marcosus LeBlanc intercepted the ball in the end zone and returned it to the 18.

Running back James Robinson rushed for 148 yards in 23 carries for Carson (8-3).
