Brown of St. Francis Commits to Irvine

Ryan Brown of St. Francis High has committed to play baseball at UC Irvine.

Brown, an outfielder, batted .343 with three home runs and 17 runs batted in as a junior.

* The Lancaster JetHawks, who changed affiliations from the Seattle Mariners to the Arizona Diamondbacks, will unveil new team colors, logo and uniforms at a news conference at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the JetHawks’ clubhouse at Lancaster Municipal Stadium.

The public is invited to attend. Doors open at 12:30.

SOCCER

* Freshman Mike Erush of Loyola Marymount, a midfielder from Birmingham High, was selected to the All-West Coast Conference second team. Erush was second on the team with four assists.

SOFTBALL

* A men’s novice slow-pitch tournament is scheduled for Sunday at the Oxnard Softball Complex.

VOLLEYBALL

* Outside hitter Kasey Jungwirth of Cal State Los Angeles, a senior from Camarillo, has been selected to the Western District All-Academic team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Jungwirth is the career kills leader with 1,489 for Cal State L.A. (33-0), which is in the NCAA Division II Pacific Regional tournament. She ranks second with 1,162 digs and 146 aces.

Jungwirth has a 3.91 grade-point average in business administration and accounting.
