Fullerton Is Routed by Oregon State
Donny Daniels’ first season as Cal State Fullerton coach got off to an ugly start Friday night at Corvallis, Ore.
The Titans scored only 12 points in the second half and were hammered by Oregon State, 68-35, in front of 4,712 at Gill Coliseum.
It was the fewest points scored in a half and the second-fewest points in a game for the Titans since they began playing in Division I in 1974. Fullerton scored 30 points in a loss to Fresno State during the 1980-81 season.
“Oregon State has good players, and they’re a good team, playing at home,” Daniels said. “We knew it would be a difficult game for us.”
Sophomore reserve Babacar Camara was the only Titan to reach double figures with 10 points.
Fullerton was without Ike Harmon, its top scorer and rebounder the last two seasons. He was suspended from the team indefinitely for violating team policy earlier this week.
Titan guard Brandon Campbell sprained his left knee with 11 1/2 minutes left in the first half in a collision with teammate Chris Smith and did not return.
