LaDainian Tomlinson ran for season-high 305 yards and three touchdowns--two on runs of 68 and 89 yards, as No. 15-ranked Texas Christian beat Texas El Paso, 47-14, Saturday.

Tomlinson, who had 33 carries, became the Western Athletic Conference’s career rushing leader on his 68-yard touchdown in the first quarter. On his career-long 89-yard touchdown in the third quarter, he became the ninth player in NCAA history to go over 5,000 yards rushing.

Still, the record-setting game wasn’t Tomlinson’s best against UTEP. He set an NCAA I-A record with 406 yards and also scored six touchdowns against UTEP last season.

Tomlinson has an NCAA-leading 1,984 yards rushing this season.

UTEP, which had set a school record with seven consecutive wins, will have to wait to see if it will have to share its first WAC championship in 33 years and to which bowl it will be going. TCU (9-1, 6-1) would have to lose Friday at Southern Methodist for UTEP (8-3, 7-1) to win the title outright.
