DIVISION XI
Carpinteria 17, Nordhoff 8--Nick Kaiser had 121 yards in 25 carries, but the Rangers were unable to avenge an earlier loss to the Warriors in a quarterfinal at Carpinteria.
Nordhoff (8-4) pulled to within 7-6 on a 39-yard touchdown run by Ian Campbell on the first play of the second quarter.
But Carpinteria (6-5-1) pushed its lead to 10-6 on Ian Allen-Williams’ 22-yard field goal in the second quarter, and to 17-6 on Jorge Gonzales’ one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
The Rangers held the Warriors to 192 yards, but were frustrated by six turnovers. Scott Lopez of Carpinteria had two interceptions and a 60-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Nordhoff was hampered by the loss of quarterback-defensive back Trevor Weedon, who injured a leg midway through the second quarter.
Backup Jairus Rothermel completed three of seven passes for 47 yards with three interceptions.
