Here’s a question that might finally be answered: How good is Aaron Bobik of Newbury Park?

Because he had an impressive freshman season on the junior varsity, many expected him to become a varsity standout in the mold of his older brothers, Daniel and Brian.

But he has yet to play a full varsity season. He missed his sophomore season because of a broken right wrist. As a junior, he was one of five players dismissed from the team after the seventh game for violating school rules during a trip to Las Vegas.

He scored 21 points in the Panthers’ 65-57 victory over North Hollywood on Tuesday night.

“I’m glad to be back,” he said. “I just wanted to come out and play hard. The team has accepted me and I appreciate that.”

Bobik, a guard whose strengths are ball handling, outside shooting and competitiveness, is 6-3.

“We’ve had a lot of talks about the challenge he faces and how he’ll be under a microscope,” Coach Steve Johnson said. “He’s focusing on playing and I’m really proud of him.”
