A Littlerock man was booked on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence Monday after flipping his pickup truck on a dirt road east of Palmdale, fatally injuring his passenger, authorities said.

William D. Angle, 33, was driving west on a dirt extension of Avenue S, east of 116th Street East, when he lost control of his Toyota pickup at about 11 a.m., according to Officer Karen Faciane of the California Highway Patrol.

The truck, traveling at about 35 mph, rolled over several times, Faciane said.

The passenger was identified as a 48-year-old Littlerock man, but the Los Angeles county coroner’s office declined to reveal his name because his next of kin had not been notified.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head injuries, Faciane said.

Both men were wearing their seat belts, she said.

Angle was in custody at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s station in Palmdale, with bail set at $100,000.
