Sylmar 50, Van Nuys 14--John Valdez threw three touchdown passes, two to receiver Felipe Samano, and running backs Isidro Medina and James Pringle each ran for two touchdowns at Van Nuys.

After Van Nuys (0-6) opened the scoring on running back Eddie Kirakosian’s two-yard run with 1:14 left in the first quarter, Sylmar (6-0) scored 50 consecutive points, including 28 in the second quarter.

Medina ran for scores of 34 and six yards, and Valdez connected with Samano for scoring passes of 37 and 27 yards to give the Spartans a 28-7 halftime lead.

Pringle finished with 103 yards in eight carries and Medina had 80 yards in eight carries. Samano had five receptions for 90 yards. Valdez, who completed his first 11 passes, finished 12 of 13 for 273 yards.

Kirakosian finished with 72 yards in 19 carries and scored on a two-yard run with 19 seconds to play.
