Golden West Gets Key Water Polo Victory

Share

Golden West defeated visiting Santa Ana, 20-6, Wednesday to assure itself of no worse than a tie for the Orange Empire Conference title and a No. 1 seeding in the upcoming men’s water polo conference tournament.

Because Golden West, the state’s top-ranked team, defeated second-place Riverside in overtime earlier in the season, it holds the tiebreaker advantage.

Former Saddleback High standout Julian Gonzalez and Logan Shaw of Huntington Beach scored four goals each for the Rustlers (21-1, 5-0). Trevor Wawrzynski contributed three, and Kevin Marsh and Jason Sanchez had two goals apiece.
