Share

Fullerton scored 21 points within a six-minute stretch in the fourth quarter to pull away to a 28-0 victory over Sunny Hills in a Freeway League game Friday night at Buena Park High.

The Indians struggled on offense after scoring on their first possession, but the defense held Sunny Hills to 78 yards of total offense and one first down in the second half. The Lancers (0-8, 0-3), who have scored the fewest points of any team in Orange County this season, were shut out for the second consecutive week.

Fullerton (7-1, 3-0), ranked second in this week’s Southern Section Division IX poll, took a 7-0 lead four minutes into the game. Oscar Hernandez intercepted a pass by Nick Rodriguez and returned it 22 yards. Four plays later, Michael Echaves hit Daniel Fells on an eight-yard crossing pattern in the end zone. Echaves led the Indians with 187 yards passing and three touchdowns.
