OUTLOOK

The Mustangs’ biggest problem last year was scoring touchdowns. But the offense figures to be much improved with five starters returning, plenty of depth at running back and the emergence of White, a talented drop-back passer. John Baggerly started at quarterback last year, but he will probably be moved to wide receiver to better utilize his speed and make way for White. Chanda (second-team all-league) and Crandal give Trabuco Hills stability and size at the tackles. Crow had one of his better off-seasons in years, welcoming three transfers from Arizona--the Collins brothers from Phoenix Shadow Mountain and Cody from Yuma. Dan Collins, father of Kyle and Jimmy, will be Crow’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach. The secondary is solid with Ayers and John Baggerly back, but the defensive line is young. The Mustangs don’t figure to challenge Mission Viejo or San Clemente, but third place is a real possibility. “It’ll come down to attitude,” Crow said. “If we can stay together all year, we’ll be all right.”
