Pizano’s 2nd-Half Goal Lifts Santiago Canyon

Andy Pizano’s goal in the 69th minute gave Santiago Canyon a 3-2 victory over Mt. San Antonio in community college men’s soccer Friday at Santiago Canyon College.

Nick Adams had five saves and Robert Bobleaga, who replaced Adams late in the game, had two saves for Santiago Canyon (2-0), which is competing in its first season.

Mt. San Antonio is 1-1-1.

In other nonconference games:

Cypress 1, Citrus 0--Fredy Rosales’ first-half goal, assisted by Blake Smith, was all Cypress needed for the victory. Jon Naick had two saves to earn the shutout.

Golden West 2, Southwestern 1--Omar Real scored both goals for Golden West (1-0), with the winner coming in the 80th minute. Jose Garcia scored Southwestern’s goal in the first half.

Orange Coast 5, Rio Hondo 2--Two early goals by Orange Coast’s Matt Mosely and one by Josh Miller put the Pirates in control. Hilario Arriaga had five saves for Orange Coast.

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Cypress 6, Canada 1--Mymarie Novak, a former Rosary High player, had a pair of goals and Cypress ran its unbeaten streak to 55 games with a victory at Redwood City.

Novak also had an assist. Alie Nunez, Katie Eatherton, Kelly Nunn and Amy Maloney also scored for Cypress (2-0).

San Diego Mesa 1, Orange Coast 0--Lisa Samuelson scored the lone goal late in the first half. Amanda Bell had nine saves for Orange Coast (2-1) and Mesa’s Sophia Perez had eight.
