SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Los Amigos High quarterback Richard Dinh scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 2 minutes 7 seconds remaining to give the Lobos a 28-21 victory over Orange Friday.

Dinh’s third touchdown run of the game was set up when Orange lined up to punt at its 23-yard line. When the ball was snapped over the head of punter Matt Hall and into the end zone, he scrambled, picked it up and was tackled at the one-yard line.

Dinh completed only one of five passes for 46 yards, but ran for 148 yards in 21 carries, including touchdown runs of 48, 21 and one yards. Sam Islas carried the ball 14 times for 67 yards and scored on a four-yard run in the second half.

Emo Taula ran for 84 yards in 16 carries and Tui Soifua ran the ball nine times for 66 yards, helping Los Amigos to 365 rushing yards.

Orange managed only 84 yards of offense, but nearly pulled off the victory by pulling off big plays when it needed to.

Toby Law opened the scoring in the second half by returning a punt 60 yards for a touchdown for Orange. Law kept his team alive several times with big tackles, a timely interception that led to a touchdown, and by recovering a fumble late in the game.

Jeremy Poole was limited to 25 yards in 15 carries by a tough Los Amigos defense, but scored on a 95-yard kickoff return in the first quarter to tie the score at 7-7. Later in the first half, Joe Perez connected with Matt Lund for a 41-yard touchdown pass to give Orange a 14-7 halftime lead.
