Sea Kings Double Up on Spartans

Top-ranked Corona del Mar defeated fifth-ranked Villa Park, 12-6, in nonleague girls’ tennis Monday at Corona del Mar.
The Sea Kings (4-0) benefited from strong doubles play as they won seven of nine sets.
Katie Tenerelli and Laura Claster swept at No. 2 doubles, 7-6, 6-0, 6-1 and Hilary Fuller and Brittany Minna swept at No. 3 doubles, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1.
In No. 1 singles, Villa Park’s Lindsey Nelson beat Anne Yelsey, 6-2.
In other nonleague tennis:
No. 6 Canyon 14, El Toro 4--Tracy Lin and freshman Elizabeth Ferris swept their sets. Canyon is 4-0.
No. 9 Sunny Hills 15, Garden Grove 3--Sophomore Catrisha Cabanilla swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Sunny Hills (3-1). Freeway League MVP Joanna Kao also did not lose a game.
Esperanza 12, Chino Hills Ayala 6--Senior Kelly Six swept her sets, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, and the doubles team of Kerri Strong and Alina Hemani won their sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. Freshman H.R. Espiritu won two of her three singles sets.
Los Amigos 10, Westminster 8--Junior Michele Nguyen swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-4, for host Los Amigos (5-0).
Ocean View 10, Cypress 8--Katherine Nguyen won, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 to lead Ocean View (4-0).
Rowland Heights Oxford 12, Tarbut V’Torah 6--Christine Kwak and Tiffany Chen swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for host Oxford (2-0).
In nonleague girls’ golf:
No. 3 Santa Margarita 139, Mission Viejo 160--Sophomore Alexis Etow shot a nine-over 45 at Tijeras Creek and medaled for Santa Margarita (3-0).
No. 9 Rosary 116, Edison 147--Eileen Jonas shot a two-over par 33 to medal for Rosary at Fullerton Golf Course. Jennifer Sanders finished with a 39 for Rosary (6-0).
El Modena 151, Valencia 168--Lindsay Broad of El Modena shot a 41 to medal at Tustin Ranch.
In nonleague water polo:
Buena Park 24, Chino 6--Steve Lopez had seven goals and Robby Hegal scored six for host Buena Park (2-0), which led 8-0 after one quarter.
Loara 20, Savanna 6--Adam Finck and Scott Haselton scored three goals each and goalie Harrison Spain had two goals and eight saves for visiting Loara (3-1).
Jurupa Valley 7, Brea Olinda 5--Brea Olinda led, 3-2, at the end of the second quarter but a four-goal third quarter put the game out of reach. Chris Becker had three goals and goalie Tyler Allred had nine saves for host Brea Olinda (1-1).
