Daly Helps San Clemente Rally, Win

Top-ranked San Clemente had to rally to defeat sixth-ranked Huntington Beach, 13-15, 15-17, 15-11, 15-13, 17-15, in a nonleague girls’ volleyball match Tuesday at San Clemente.

Katy Daly had 26 kills, 16 digs and five blocks for San Clemente (2-0), which took a 13-4 lead in the final game only to fall behind, 14-13.

The Tritons then fell behind, 15-14, before getting a side-out and coming back to score the next three points for the win.

Christina Vick had 15 kills, 10 digs and six blocks and Megan Blackshire had 14 kills, eight digs and five blocks for San Clemente.

Huntington Beach fell to 1-2.

No. 9 Capistrano Valley 3, Fountain Valley 0--Ashley Thometz had 15 kills and setter Andrea Delsigne had 35 assists for Capistrano Valley (3-0), in their 15-7, 15-5, 15-8, victory.

Century 3, Santa Ana 2--Liz Mendoza had 20 kills for the Centurions (2-1), who won 15-10, 12-15, 9-15, 15-11, 15-6. Evelyn Medina had 13 kills for Santa Ana (5-2).

El Dorado 3, Valencia 0--Ashli Brown had six kills and seven service aces for El Dorado (3-0), which won, 15-5, 15-3, 16-7.

El Toro 3, No. 8 Santa Margarita 1--Kathrine Varin had 15 kills, Kim Wilson had 13 and Krista Kimble contributed nine kills and five blocks for the Chargers (1-0), who won 15-10, 12-15, 15-9, 15-9. Santa Margarita is 2-1.

No. 3 Irvine 3, No. 7 Laguna Beach 0--Olivia Waldowski had 12 kills and Jody Carlson had 10 for visiting Irvine (3-0), which swept, 15-7, 15-5, 15-12.

Sarah Salem had nine kills for Laguna Beach (1-2).

La Habra 3, Los Alamitos 0--Keao Burdine had 12 kills and setter Maggie Williams had 21 assists for visiting La Habra (3-0), which won, 15-12, 15-6, 15-1.

Tustin 3, Estancia 1--Elizabeth Smith had seven kills and five service aces and Jennifer Aragon contributed seven kills and five digs as the visiting Tillers (3-1) won, 15-11, 15-9, 9-15, 15-7. Estancia is 2-5.

University 3, Villa Park 2--Junior Melissa Zapiain had 17 kills and setter Natalia Topik had seven kills, five aces and 42 assists for host University (1-3), in a 15-4, 15-8, 7-15, 9-15, 15-7 victory. Villa Park is 2-1.

Western 3, Troy 2--Rosa Barrera had 15 kills and Carol Viana added 12 as Western won, 15-10, 10-15, 15-4, 7-15, 15-12.
