Keenan’s 6 Goals Lead Esperanza Past Foothill

Brian Keenan scored six goals to lead eighth-ranked Esperanza to a 13-11 victory over No. 5 Foothill in a nonleague boys’ water polo game Tuesday at Foothill.

Tyler Morales scored three for the Aztecs (3-2), who led, 10-7, after three quarters.

Brian Alexander scored five goals and Wes Fox had four for Foothill (2-1).

In other nonleague boys’ water polo:

Buena Park 15, Katella 6--Steve Lopez scored five goals and Adam Acezado and Robby Hegal had four each for Buena Park (2-0).

Dana Hills 8, Aliso Niguel 4--Jake Herrmann scored three goals and Justin Corea had 17 saves for the Dolphins (2-0). Kent Kagy had 14 saves for Aliso Niguel (1-1).

Santa Ana 7, La Quinta 5--Jose Gutierrez had four goals and goalie Mario Robles made a key save in the final minute to preserve the victory for the Saints (5-3). La Quinta is 1-1.

Servite 8, Los Alamitos 5--Vincent Bevins and Adam Hewko scored all eight goals for visiting Servite (2-0). Bevins scored five goals and Hewko had three.

University 14, No. 10 La Habra 12--Host University (4-3) was led by Ted Peck and Kyle Schafer, who scored four goals each.

Josh Jewett had four goals and three others scored two each for La Habra (5-4).

In Sunset League field hockey:

Newport Harbor 1, Santa Ana 0--Lauren Birchfield scored with 12:35 left to lift Newport Harbor (4-0) at Harper Middle School. Santa Ana is 0-2-2.

In nonleague girls’ golf:

No. 1 University 121, Edison 157--Junior Angela Won shot 39 and Sunny Lee carded 40 for the Trojans (3-0) at par-36 Rancho San Joaquin golf course. Edison is 3-3.

In Garden Grove League girls’ tennis:

Garden Grove 10, Pacifica 8--Garden Grove’s Jeanie Kong and Susie Shin swept at No 1 doubles to lead a 9-0 Argonaut sweep in doubles.

In the Olympic League:

Orange Lutheran 9, Connelly 9 (OL won on games, 79-72)--Christine LaLonde swept, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1, in singles for Orange Lutheran (5-1, 3-0). Alex Lee and Celine Doung swept at No. 2 doubles for Connelly (3-2. 1-2).

In nonleague girls’ tennis:

No. 2 Dana Hills 11, No. 4 Woodbridge 7--Catie Reames, Kristin Bronowicki, Lauren Calton, Kristen Wilson, Amy Vyhnis and Chip Dunbar combined to go 9-0 in doubles for Dana Hills (3-0).

Edison 10, No. 5 Villa Park 8--Meghan Feichter and Blaire Lorenz swept at singles, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3, to lead visiting Edison (2-0).

Los Alamitos 12, No. 8 Newport Harbor 6--Tara Siddiqui, Melissa Selmanson and freshman Gia Nafarette swept their singles matches for the Griffins (2-0). Newport Harbor is 2-2.

Palos Verdes Peninsula 15, No. 1 Corona del Mar 3--Playing at No. 1 singles, sophomore Anne Yelsey won all three points for visiting Corona del Mar (4-1) by winning, 7-5, 7-5, 6-0.

Rosary 15, Fountain Valley 3--Sophomore Jenna Eyrich and senior Liz Caballero swept their singles matches to lead the Royals (3-1). Fountain Valley is 0-3.

Santa Margarita 14, El Toro 4--Laura Bonhall and Kathryn Malec swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, for host Santa Margarita (2-1), which won eight of nine sets in doubles.

Tatiana Steinberg swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for the Eagles.

Sunny Hills 13, Chino Hills Ayala 5--Junior Joanna Kao swept at No. 1 singles and Sami Daily and Michelle Esquivel swept at No. 2 doubles for Sunny Hills (4-1).

No. 7 University 14, Irvine 4--Megan Biorkman and Aimee Kim each swept their single’s matches, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for University (3-2). Tiffany Thair and Cami Jung swept their doubles matches for Irvine (1-1).
