Woman Badly Hurt in 2-Vehicle Crash
A 77-year-old Ojai woman was in critical condition Tuesday night with a spinal column injury after the car she was riding in was struck by another vehicle, authorities said.
Carmen Robertson was being treated at Ventura County Medical Center after the 5:15 p.m. crash at Peninsula Street and Harbor Boulevard, said Ventura Police Sgt. John Turner.
Robertson was riding in a car being driven by her husband, Jack, when it was struck by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Darin Acosta of Oxnard, Turner said.
Jack Robertson, 78, was attempting to make a left turn from Harbor onto Peninsula when the passenger side of his vehicle was hit.
Robertson was under observation at the same hospital as his wife. Acosta and his two passengers, Tatum Jenks, 20, of Ventura, and Jason Ramirez, 21, of Oxnard, were treated at Community Memorial Hospital and released.
The cause of the crash was under investigation, but police said alcohol was not involved. Any witnesses were asked to call Turner at 339-4435.
