Woman Still Critical After Irvine Crash

An Aliso Viejo woman who collided with another motorist Saturday while she was allegedly driving on the wrong side of Laguna Canyon Road in Irvine remained in critical condition Sunday.
Maria Lopez, 28, was being held at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo after apparently crossing over the center divider of Laguna Canyon Road just south of the San Diego Freeway, Irvine police said, and colliding with a pickup carrying three passengers about 6:20 p.m. Saturday.
Lopez suffered head trauma; the three passengers in the truck were unharmed. The road remained closed until about 10 a.m. Sunday while investigators examined the scene.
