Marine beat Romanceishope by a neck in winning the $150,000 La Jolla Handicap Saturday at Del Mar.

Marine, ridden by Corey Nakatani, ran 1 1/16 miles over the turf course in 1:41 3/5 and paid $17.20 to win.

With Anticipation won the Grade I $500,000 Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga Race Course, beating King Cugat by three-quarters of a length.

With Anticipation, ridden by Pat Day, ran 1 1/2 miles over the turf course in 2:26 2/5 and paid $14.60 to win.

Western Pride beat Saratoga Games by 1 1/2 lengths in the $500,000 West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Park at Chester, W.Va.

Western Pride, ridden by Dana Whitney, broke the track record for 1 1/8 miles with a time of 1:47 1/5 and paid $45.60 to win.

Caressing beat Gal On The Go by a length to win the Grade III $125,000 Singapore Plate on the turf at Arlington Park.

Caressing took the lead around the second turn and held off a late challenge by Gal On The Go. Caressing, ridden by Rene Douglas, covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50 3/5 and paid $4.60 to win.
