Brady Has Patriots Winning a Bunch
Times NFL writer Sam Farmer poses--and answers--the league’s burning questions.
Q: Why should Patriot quarterback Tom Brady be in the Pro Bowl?
A: Not only is New England 8-3 with him as the starter, but he had a completion rate of 70% or better in four consecutive games, joining four others--Sammy Baugh, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana and Steve Young.
Q: Should we call them the Bear-lys?
A: Chicago has averaged 11 points in its last three games.
Q: How’s this for an excuse?
A: Redskin rookie receiver Rod Gardner has had several drops lately. He says it’s because NFL footballs don’t have white stripes like college balls, so he can’t see them as well.
Q: Was Randy Moss’ $75-million contract money well spent?
A: Let’s see, the sulky Moss had one touchdown catch in the first six games and his team went 3-3.
He had seven touchdown catches in the next six ... and the Vikings went 2-4.
Q: Why did George Young, the legendary NFL executive who died last weekend, dislike comparisons of football and war?
A: “When you run an end sweep, everybody gets up afterward.”
