Arizona State Holds Off Montana State, 72-69

Kyle Dodd scored Arizona State’s last four points as the Sun Devils avoided losing to another Big Sky Conference team with a 72-69 win over Montana State on Thursday night at Phoenix.

Chad Prewitt had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Sun Devils (5-2), who dropped a 79-69 decision to Portland State of the Big Sky in overtime on Nov. 20.

Curtis Millage had 11 points and Awvee Storey 10 for Arizona State.

Aaron Rich scored 23 points for the Bobcats (3-5), and James Clark had a career-high 16.

Rich completed his 10-for-10 free-throw effort with two to pull Montana State within 68-64, but Dodd answered with a driving layup with 1:19 to go.

The Bobcats’ Damir Latovic hit a three-point basket 16 seconds later, and Clark made two free throws with 12 seconds remaining, cutting the deficit to 70-69.

Dodd hit two free throws with 4.4 seconds to go, and Clark missed a shot at the buzzer as Arizona State won its fourth in a row before starting Pacific 10 Conference play next week.

Seton Hall 95, Fairleigh Dickinson 73--John Allen made the most of the first start of his college career, scoring 31 points to lead the Pirates at East Rutherford, N.J.

Allen started in place of Greg Morton, who was out because of a shoulder injury, and scored 17 points in the first half. For the game, Allen made 11 for 17, including four of seven from three-point range.

The win was the fourth consecutive for the Pirates (6-2). Fairleigh Dickinson fell to 0-9.

Amber Obaze scored 19 points, Catrina Frierson had 18 and No. 11 Louisiana Tech stopped a three-game losing streak with a 98-44 victory over Centenary at Shreveport, La.

Louisiana Tech (3-3), which was coming off losses to nationally ranked Connecticut, Tennessee and Duke, built a 50-13 halftime lead.

Tech outscored Centenary, 15-6, from the free-throw line, had a 51-26 rebounding advantage and forced 24 turnovers.

Carley Melvin led Centenary (4-7) with 16 points. Demetria Dorsey had 10 points.

No. 15 Wisconsin 74, Drake 61--Jessie Stomski scored 20 points and the Badgers rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to win at Madison, Wis.

Tamara Moore had 16 points and 11 assists for Wisconsin (9-1), which held Drake (4-3) scoreless for almost 12 minutes in the second half and closed the game with a 23-6 run.

Kyle Black and Emily Ashbaugh each scored 13 points for Wisconsin, which extended its winning streak to eight games and is off to its best start since 1997-98.
