Oregon remembered last season’s blowout loss to Arizona all too well. The Ducks responded by handing the Wildcats a beating they won’t soon forget.

Oregon scored from the inside and made a McArthur Court-record 13 three-point baskets, routing No. 11 Arizona, 105-75, Saturday night at Eugene, Ore.

It was the Wildcats’ worst loss since a 111-58 drubbing at UCLA in 1983.

The 30-point margin of victory was the Ducks’ biggest in the 48-game series. The previous high was a 17-point win in 1980.

Oregon beat Arizona at Eugene last season but was blown out, 104-65, in the rematch at Tucson. Luke Jackson, who led the Ducks with 28 points, didn’t forget that.

“Last year’s loss was in the backs of our minds for awhile,” Jackson said. “But we had a lot of confidence, and we wanted to show them we were a team they’d have to deal with.”

Jackson, disheveled and perpetually looking as if he’s on the verge of collapse, had 16 points in a first half that saw the Ducks go on a 40-14 spree that turned a 17-9 deficit into a 49-31 lead.

Frederick Jones had 21 points for the Ducks, and Luke Ridnour had 18 points and six assists.

“It was a team victory,” Oregon Coach Ernie Kent said, “but I’ve got to point out Luke Jackson and the way he has played in the past two games.”

Jason Gardner led Arizona with 19 points, and Channing Frye had 18 points and nine rebounds.

Luke Walton shot three for 15 amid taunts from the raucous crowd.

The Wildcats (6-3, 1-1) had a glimmer of hope, when an 8-0 spurt closed the gap to 49-39 at halftime.

But James Davis made two three-pointers early in the second half and Jackson continued to make his shots.

Many of the Ducks’ shots were virtually uncontested

The Wildcats extended their defense to guard the outside shot, but the Ducks went inside to Brian Helquist and Chris Christoffersen.

Jackson’s last basket put the Ducks over the century mark, the first time they’ve scored more than 100 points in consecutive Pacific 10 games.
